It’s been a long time since I posted a green smoothie recipe. Maybe it’s because of the terrible weather we’ve been having on the East Coast because all I want to eat is comfort food like roast chicken and potatoes…nothing wrong with that! But to lighten up my winter blues, a healthy green smoothie will do the trick!
We all know that eating these delicious comfort foods will help your winter blues but it’s really important to make sure our bodies get the nutrients we need especially during the cold dreary months. Any combination of kale will work well but I used a mix of lacinato and curly kale. Kale is great to add into your smoothies because it contains large quantities of anti-cancer nutrients, anti-oxidants as well as calcium and B-vitamins.
Kale Green Smoothie with Mango and Bananas
- 2-3 cups kale, destemmed and roughly chopped
- 2-3 ripe bananas, fresh or frozen
- 1 cup mango chunks
- 1 cup water
- 1-2 cups ice
In a blender, preferably a powerful one like Blendtec or Vitamix, add kale, bananas, mango chunks, water and ice. Blend on the highest speed until smooth and creamy.
Total Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 2-4 servings
