Spring – I mean summer – is finally here in NYC! We’ve had a little heat wave here after a brutally cold March, so naturally, I decided to make lemonade. To mix things up I used Meyer lemons. A cross between traditional lemons and mandarin oranges, Meyer lemons are less acidic, juicy and just plain delicious. They are perfect for my first “summer lemonade”. Some other recipes I use Meyer lemons in are cocktails, salad dressings, roast chicken recipes or in desserts that would call for regular lemons.

Apple Bourbon Cocktail with Ginger Syrup
I haven’t posted a cocktail recipe since the summer. But lately, I’ve been making more cocktails, especially seasonally inspired ones. Our latest favorite has been this delicious apple Bourbon concoction. We adapted the recipe for this fall drink from our friends at Julibox, who launched a brilliant online business selling monthly cocktail ingredient kits, similar to our side business GrubKit. This drink is perfect during your Thanksgiving festivities. Enjoy and have a wonderful holiday!

Grilled Peach Cocktail
Wine has been my drink of choice for a long time, then with our move to NYC came beer and we couldn’t keep our hands off the many exciting and delicious craft brews available these days. Until recently that is… Our latest habit is mixing cocktails using fresh herbs and fruit. I love playing with different ingredients and coming up with new concoctions or recreate some of the many classic cocktails.
Summer Sangria with Orange Curacao
I absolutely love a cold glass of sangria during the summer. Last year I posted a traditional Spanish sangria recipe and this time I wanted to change it up a bit. I used dark rum instead of white and added in some orange curacao giving it a bolder citrus flavor. Sangria is perfect to have at an al fresco dinner with friends. And remember when serving, make sure to put ice in your glasses first and not into your pitcher.
Raspberry Banana Smoothie with Coconut Milk and Rosewater
The past few days have been brutally hot here in New York and when it gets this way, my appetite isn’t quite the same. I usually like a big hearty breakfast, but now with the hot weather I just want to have refreshing drinks. So for breakfast today I made a blend of raspberries, bananas and coconut milk with a hint of rosewater. It’s delicious and light, yet enough to fill you up!

Sparkling Raspberry – An Easy and Refreshing Summer Drink
If you’re wondering why I haven’t posted in a while, it was because my husband and I spontaneously took a trip up to Montréal for a few days! I suggest you go visit soon if you haven’t yet. It’s a beautiful city with friendly people and an amazing food and beer culture. I feel stuffed just thinking about all the food we ate (and beer we drank). When we got home, all I wanted to do was drink water! With that said, here is an easy and refreshing drink using fresh raspberries. The perfect drink to start Summer.

How to Make Thai Iced Tea From Scratch
The past few days we’ve had summer-like temperatures here in New York and we ate outside on our tiny balcony for the first time this year. I made Shrimp Pad Thai and one of my favorite summer drinks, Thai Iced Tea.
