Meyer Lemonade sweetened with Maple Syrup

MeyerLemonadeSpring – I mean summer – is finally here in NYC! We’ve had a little heat wave here after a brutally cold March, so naturally, I decided to make lemonade. To mix things up I used Meyer lemons. A cross between traditional lemons and mandarin oranges, Meyer lemons are less acidic, juicy and just plain delicious. They are perfect for my first “summer lemonade”. Some other recipes I use Meyer lemons in are cocktails, salad dressings, roast chicken recipes or in desserts that would call for regular lemons.

Pure maple syrup is added so no need to make simple syrup. I love the natural sweetness of the maple syrup. It also gives the drink a beautiful golden orange hue.

For a REALLY delicious tropical taste, try the Meyer lemonade sweetened with sugar cane juice instead of maple syrup…of course, you won’t get the lovely amber color, but the tastes actually complement each other perfectly.

Never really liked lemonade with sugar but wow with maple syrup, it’s super tasty! This has been my go-to recipe for lemonade this summer. My 5 year old loves it! 🙂
