My first green smoothie recipe of the new year is one of the most basic smoothies out there. All you need is two ingredients, spinach and bananas. Spinach is a wonderful green to use if you’re new to green smoothies. You can mix almost any kind of fruit with it because of it’s mild flavor and versatility.
Festive Romaine and Apple Green Smoothie with Cinnamon
[This post is part of my Green Smoothie series]
Ever heard of a green smoothie with cinnamon? No, neither have I! In order to keep up with the festive theme of the last few weeks, I’ve tried to come up with a “holiday green smoothie”. It turned out to be a refreshing mix of apples, banana, cinnamon and romaine lettuce. You hardly notice the romaine lettuce, the smoothie tastes more like applesauce, but an applesauce you can drink! It’s smooth and creamy with a hint of cinnamon, the perfect flavor during the holidays.
Orange and Banana Green Smoothie with Curly Parsley
[This post is part of my Green Smoothie series]
I rarely use curly parsley for cooking, I typically prefer flat-leaf. But when I went to the store today I thought why not try it in a green smoothie? The smoothie turned out quite refreshing and delicious. Parsley has a distinct flavor and is great when combined with sweet citrus fruits. You’ll definitely want to try this one out!
Banana Apple Green Smoothie with Parsley
[This post is part of my Green Smoothie series]
I love using parsley in my green smoothies. It’s so refreshing, healthy, and easy to use. Just wash the bunch and roughly chop it, stems and all. If you don’t want to use a whole bunch (especially when you’re new to green smoothies) use half and store the rest in a cup of water in the fridge.
Kale Green Smoothie with Mixed Berries and Bananas
[This post is part of my Green Smoothie series]
Kale is an excellent addition to green smoothies because it’s packed with vitamins and nutrients like beta carotene, vitamin C and fiber. The flavor of kale in green smoothies is strong, so I suggest using less kale in the beginning and then adding more when it’s palatable to your taste.
Avocado Green Smoothie with Frozen Bananas and Parsley
[This post is part of my Green Smoothie series]
Avocado is a great ingredient to use in green smoothies. They add creaminess and offer an abundance of healthy fats, vitamin A, beta-carotene and more. The fats found in avocados also help your body absorb the parsley’s vitamins more easily.
Green Smoothie – Blueberry Celery Smoothie with Coconut Water
As promised, here’s another Green Smoothie recipe. This is one of my all-time favorites, not only for its beautiful color but it also tastes delicious. The celery flavor is noticeable, but subtle enough to not overpower the berries. One whole banana adds a creamy texture.
